Trailer and Truck Equipment Sales, Service & Manufacturing "A Tradition of Quality Since 1919"
|
Hulet Body was established in 1919 as Hulet Top and Body Co., a company that replaced canvas roof on truck bodies of the time. Hulet was started by four partners and after a short time only two partners, Alex and Morris Letvin, remained. In 1924 they constructed a building and began manufacturing truck bodies. In that time, truck bodies were predominately constructed of wood. Alex's Son, Abe joined to company complete with a Mechanical Engineering Degree and started manufacturing steel truck bodies, insulated truck bodies, and utility truck bodies. At that time, Hulet began uplifting equipment and repairing truck equipment. In 1968 Hulet moved to a 12,000 square foot building and Abe's son Tom joined the company while attending college. In the larger building, Hulet assembled aluminum van body kits in addition to the other lines. Hulet also began to do more service work. In 1989 Hulet added another 6,000 feet to its building just for service and parts. We also began handling truck equipment. In 1992, the opportunity to become a van body manufacturer presented itself in Indiana. We jumped at the chance and started manufacturing Aluminum, FRP, Dry Freight and Insulated Truck Bodies. We now had the opportunity to manufacture truck bodies to our specifications. Hulet now was able to supply van bodies to other distributors. In 1998 we moved to a 55,000 square foot building and moved all operations under one roof. We now manufacture all styles of van bodies, have a road service truck, and a parts department.
